King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne
Description
King Graham has been elevated to the position of king as a result of his successful search for and recovery of three treasures. Graham, who is now in need of a queen for company, searches the kingdom for a lady, but his efforts come to naught; so, he consults the magic mirror in order to get some assistance. The mirror reveals to him a stunning young lady who is imprisoned in a quartz tower in the distant nation of Kolyma. He is given the task of locating three keys in order to open the door that will lead him to her.
Graphic adventure games are what King's Quest II: Romancing the Throne is all about. Players control Graham's movement with the arrow keys, as is customary for Sierra's AGI games, and carry out tasks by inputting words into the interface. These commands are typically a combination of verbs and nouns. The framework of the game, as well as the gameplay mechanism, is quite similar to that of its predecessor. Kolyma, much like Daventry, is a vast cyclical universe made up of a network of screens that are connected to one another. When compared to the original game, this one is far larger and busier, including an increased number of destinations and points of interest. The format of the puzzles is generally the same; in order to solve some of them, familiarity with fairy tales is helpful, and finding intricate answers earns the player more points than using brute force, which may be an option in some situations.
