Desert Strike - Return to the Gulf

Description

The initial instalment in the Strike video game series. Kilbaba, also known as Muababa in the Game Boy Advance version, is a self-styled general who, one year after the Gulf War, takes control of an Arab Emirate and threatens to start World War III against his western adversary, the United States of America. The fate of Kilbaba and his terrorist army rests in your hands, as the President has entrusted you with their elimination before Kilbaba can carry out his threat to use nuclear weapons against the entire world.

In order to take out the enemy defence while trying to figure out what Kilbaba's plans are, you will need to fly a specially designed AH-64A Apache on a series of missions to rescue characters that have gone missing in action, blow up power plants, and blow apart SCUD missiles, among other objectives.

The viewpoint of the game is isometric, looking down from above on the player-controlled helicopter. The Apache is armed with a machine gun in addition to two distinct types of missiles, each of which has a distinct level of destructive potential. During the missions, the player is tasked with avoiding enemy fire from anti-aircraft guns, missile launchers, and tanks by either outmanoeuvring the adversary or destroying the adversary's weaponry. If the Apache's fuel supply runs out, or if its armour (which serves as the vehicle's health), is completely depleted, it will be destroyed. However, if soldiers who are currently being held as prisoners of war or who have gone missing in action are brought back to the landing zone, their armour can be resupplied. On the playing field, you can also obtain fuel, ammunition, and armour if you so choose.
