Area 88

Description

Side-scrolling shoot-em-up, in the vein of games like Gradius, R-Type, and Scramble, among others. In this ongoing series of military operations based on aircraft, the objective is to eradicate the hostile forces that have amassed near the airspace controlled by the allies known as "Area 88." You can choose to play as Shin Kazama, Micky Schymon, or Greg Gates, each of whom is a one-of-a-kind pilot with their own set of skills when it comes to repairing damage, manipulating weapons, and their level of flying ability. You then engage the enemy in a series of challenging missions. The player begins the game with the F8E Crusader, which is the weakest plane in the game and can only be armed with the most fundamental range weapons. However, by successfully completing a variety of missions, sufficient funds can be acquired to purchase aircraft of a higher quality. These superior aircraft are quicker, more resilient to damage, and have a wider firing range than their inferior counterparts. In addition to this, more developed fighters have access to more powerful special weapons, such as napalm, than less developed fighters do. In addition to repelling groups of airborne 'bandits' who swarm-in on Area 88, the missions include attacks on sand bases, the nuclear submarine 'Seavet,' and enemy supply camps. The number of enemies is overwhelming, and the action moves at a breakneck speed. If you aim your fire at everything that moves on the screen, it's possible that the allied forces will emerge victorious......
