Chou Gojira - Super Godzilla
Description
Super Godzilla is a 16-bit version of the Godzilla franchise in which the player assumes control of Toho's iconic large green lizard as it wreaks havoc across Japan. The primary gameplay components of the game are called Movement and Battle, respectively. During Movement, the player navigates the city by using the D-pad and a map that is displayed at the bottom of the screen. The goal of Movement is to eliminate specific objectives, such as hostile humans and buildings, and collect power-ups. The results of their movements and attacks are displayed in an animation that can be found in the screen area directly above the map.
When the player finds an enemy on the map, such as Biollante or Mechagodzilla, battle mode is activated. The player is then transported to a side-scrolling cinematic-style battle, in which they must use punches, tail whips, and the infamous fire breath move to drain the energy of the opposing monster. On the other hand, there is a system known as the Fighting Spirit, which functions in a way similar to a morality metre and requires the player to select appropriate attacks at appropriate times in order to connect certain attacks. If you select the wrong attacks or fail to connect with them, the metre will decrease, making Godzilla more susceptible to being attacked.
