Space Quest IV: Roger Wilco and the Time Rippers

Description

After his hilarious exploits in the prior game, Roger Wilco is chilling out at his favorite bar somewhere in time and space when highly armed soldiers infiltrate the universe. In possession of a goodbye note from Roger's former adversary, Sludge Vohaul, they intend to eliminate the janitorial hero through the use of the execution method. That is, until a man who is carrying an oversized hair dryer assists Roger in escaping through a tear in time and entering the future. Now, Roger Wilco has awakened on his home planet, some time during the events of Space Quest XII, which is a metafictional story. In this bleak and dismal future, the series has been abandoned after the death of its hero, and Vohaul now holds absolute power. Roger needs to find a method to evade Vohaul's goons, carry out his mission, and discover the pleasant surprises that lie in store for him in the years to come all at the same time.

The icon-based SCI interface and 256-color graphics made their debut in the Space Quest series with the release of Space Quest IV, the first game in the Space Quest series. The command set contains graphical representations for walking, gazing, conversing, using or taking, smelling and tasting, as well as accessing inventory. The band Roger Wilco is depicted on the screen from a variety of different outside perspectives. A variety of timed challenges and perilous environments, all of which can end Roger's life if the player is careless, coexist alongside inventory-based puzzles in this game, as they did in the titles that came before it.
