Akumajou Dracula

Description

The narrative of Super Castlevania IV is a reimagining of the very first instalment in the series. In this action-adventure video game, which takes place in the year 1691, the player assumes the part of a vampire hunter named Simon Belmont, who is equipped with a formidable whip and is on a mission to defeat the vile Count Dracula in his castle. Despite having the same story, each of the six castle stages features a unique layout and set of themes. Additionally, five initial stages that depict Simon's progression towards the castle through a variety of environments have been added.

The objective of the game is to complete a series of timed, linear platform levels while battling enemies using a whip and a variety of subweapons, each of which requires the player to collect hearts and can be unlocked by destroying various elements of the environment. The most notable ability that Simon possesses in this instalment is the ability to attack in eight different directions with his whip. This gives him the opportunity, among other things, to deal damage to foes who are standing below or above him. Keep in mind that blocking enemy attacks requires you to hold out the whip. In addition, Simon is able to hook his whip onto particular grappling points in order to swing over gaps and obstructions. Passwords are provided to the player after each stage of the game is completed in order to save their progress through the game.

Visually, the game makes use of hardware effects known as "Mode 7," including rotating rooms and rooms that scroll in a parallax pattern, as well as pseudo-3D objects in certain areas.
