Columns

Description

The gameplay of Columns is similar to that of Tetris in that players must arrange falling blocks in such a way as to remove them from the board. However, in the columns they appear as groups of three blocks of the same size but different colours. These blocks must be arranged into sequences of three or more in either the horizontal, vertical, or diagonal directions. Sequences of four or five count for double or triple the usual number of points, and diagonal sequences score the most points overall. The real challenge lies in the creation of "combos," which are formed when one line causes other blocks to drop and thereby creates additional lines.

There is a "normal" game mode, as well as a "flash" mode, in which the objective is to simply remove a specific block from the base of the pre-formed pile of bricks. This mode is available in addition to the "normal" game mode. The level of difficulty associated with this task can be adjusted by increasing the number of finished rows that are already in place.
