Emit Vol. 1 - Toki no Maigo

Description

Emit is a three-part visual novel that was developed to assist Japanese individuals in improving their English language skills. The game can be played in either English or Japanese, and players have the option of listening to the audio track or reading the transcript in either language at any time during gameplay. The game can be played in two different ways: the Story mode and the English Game mode. The main game is broken up into a series of chapters known as the story mode. Within each chapter, players are given the opportunity to watch the plot advance and complete a variety of challenges. Players are able to put the game on hold at any time while playing the story mode so that they can look up a word that they don't understand or change the language being spoken.

The following are the exercises:
Activities to test a player's listening comprehension, in which they must select the appropriate answers in order to demonstrate that they have grasped the plot.
Players participate in a game of "guessing what's going to happen" by selecting the question that most closely aligns with their point of view and then listening to the characters in the story comment on the player's choice.
Students will engage in conversation practise in which they can listen to the speech of the character and then act out the dialogues.
The English game mode is a mini-game that takes place in the world of the game and involves two law enforcement officers searching for a criminal. Players are tasked with directing law enforcement personnel to the appropriate location, noting which buildings are in the area, and keeping track of phone calls from members of the community who provide information regarding the criminal's most recent known location.

The story of Yuri's chance meeting with an elderly man and the events that take place after that encounter are covered in the first volume of the game.
