Microsoft Office 97

Description

Microsoft Office 97, also known as version 8.0, is the fifth major update of Microsoft Office for Windows and was first made available by the company on November 19, 1996. It was the successor to Microsoft Office 95 and remained in use until 1999, when it was supplanted by Microsoft Office 2000. On January 6, 1998, an application that was comparable to Mac OS was made available: Microsoft Office 98 Macintosh Edition. In comparison to its predecessor, Microsoft Office 97 marked a significant technological advancement with the introduction of hundreds of brand-new features and enhancements.

The suite is certified to work with Windows NT 3.51 Service Pack 5, Windows 95, and later versions of Windows.

[a] It does not receive official support on Windows XP or any version of Windows that came after it. It is the final version of Microsoft Office that is compatible with Windows NT 3.51 SP5 and Windows NT 4.0 RTM–SP2; the version that came after it, Microsoft Office 2000, is only compatible with Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0 SP3 and after.
