Dark Earth

Description

Arkhan was reared in a Stallite (Citadel of Light), which is one of the few places in the world that still has access to natural sunlight. He was born in a world that had recently experienced a catastrophic event. Beyond the walls of this haven, the rest of the world is a dangerous place. The darkness gives rise to a disease that wreaks havoc over the land. When conditions are like these, people worship the sun as if it were a god. A sun priestess that Arkhan is shielding has an assassination attempt made on her. As a result of his efforts to protect her, he was struck by a bottle containing darkness. Arkhan, who has been infected with the disease, decides to embark on a journey throughout the land in an effort to find a cure for his ailment and restore order to the world.

Dark Earth is an action game played from the third-person perspective, and it features some mild puzzle-solving aspects. It is very similar to the Resident Evil games in that it uses pre-rendered scenery and has fixed camera angles. The number of firearms in the game is extremely limited, as is the ammunition available for those firearms. After some use, weapons suffer wear and tear and need to be maintained or repaired. Arkhan is capable of grabbing and employing makeshift weapons such as kitchen utensils. When he is injured, he has additional responsibilities, including the search for nourishment to restore his health. Over the course of the game, Arkhan makes a slow but sure transition to the shadowy side of his personality. The player has multiple opportunities to make decisions during the game's dialogue that will have an effect on the character's progression.
