Starsiege

Description

Prometheus, the progenitor of all hybrids and the mastermind behind the first two sieges of Earth, is probably still around somewhere. The Dark Intellect has gained knowledge, and it is currently concealed in the furthest reaches of the Solar System, where it continues to study, investigate, and watch for the ideal opportunity to act. In the meantime, the Human Empire is disintegrating into its component parts. Although Emperor Petresun, the original creator of Prometheus, has issued a directive to defend Earth first, the colonists of the other worlds are not happy about it. They remember how powerless they were during the past Earth sieges, and how Earth did not send any assistance until it was too late. When the severe repression started, the Martian Resistance was already well under way. When the Emperor sent orders for his Imperial Knights to fight the Martian Resistance and the Starsiege began, Prometheus recognized this as his window of opportunity to strike.

The video game Starsiege is a simulation of battlemech vehicles. In this video game, the enemy battlemechs are referred to as HERCs, and they all have shields. This means that the player needs to coordinate the weapons in order to bring down the shields and then punch through the armor. Because the weapon mounts come in a variety of sizes, it is feasible to attach a wide range of different kinds and dimensions of weapons to them. The player's options for outfitting are restricted and made more difficult by the fact that the other mounts for equipment (engine, shields, and powerplant) come in a variety of sizes. Among the other types of equipment are the cloaking device, the ECM, and the shield amplifier. There is a selection of HERCs available in a variety of sizes, in addition to various ground vehicles (which cannot be shielded). Additionally, the user has the ability to load the camouflage pattern into a paint program and modify it there. It is possible to play the campaign from either the human or the hybrid side, and it is also possible to participate with other players online in large-scale conflicts that are multiplayer.

As a bonus content addition, the full version of Starsiege: Tribes will be included in the European version of this game.
