Batman: The Video Game

Description

Batman: The Video Game for the NES is partly based on the 1989 film. A blue-clad Batman battles foes like robots, jet-pack-clad troops, ninjas, and mutants in this side-scrolling game.

The game has five areas that are loosely based on the movie: Gotham City streets (where the Killer Moth serves as the game's final boss), AXIS Chemical Factory (where the Machine Intelligence System serves as the game's boss), Underground Conduit (where the Electrocutioner serves as the game's boss), Laboratory Ruins (where the Dual-Container Alarm serves as the game's boss), and Gotham's Cathedral (where Firebug serves as the game's final A sequence with movie scenes is shown prior to each stage.

In addition to his trusty punches, Batman carries a number of weaponry in his utility belt, including the Dirk, the Spear Gun, and the Batarang (a three direction weapon). A combined ammunition counter for the three guns is available to Batman. Per shot, the Dirk uses three pellets, the Spear Gun uses two pellets, and the Batarang uses one pellet. In addition, Batman has an eight hit life bar that may be refilled by obtaining the hearts that fallen opponents have left behind. Additionally, the adversaries will drop bonus items and pellet items (10 pellets per item) (which will only sum up points).

Batman can also "wall jump" by grabbing a wall and leaping toward it, which enables him to squeeze through some tight spaces. Batman has three lives and an infinite number of attempts.
