Half-Life: Opposing Force
Description
Opposing Force is the first official expansion pack for the Half-Life video game series. It was created by Gearbox Software under the direction of Valve, the game's original developer. The plot of the original game is intertwined into the narrative of the add-on, in which players assume the character of Corporal Adrian Shephard, one of the troops who was dispatched to the Black Mesa facility to "clean up" the tragedy and quiet any witnesses.
Shephard does not make it to his final objective because his helicopter is destroyed, his squad is murdered, and he finds himself in a fight for his life against the aliens who have invaded.
Since Opposing Force takes place at the same time as Half-Life, its protagonist, Shephard, will experience some of the same events as the protagonist of Half-Life, Gordon Freeman, did in the first game, albeit from a different point of view. Shephard will also visit some of the same locations. The narrative follows the same format as that of the original Half-Life game, in which the protagonist is the point of view character throughout.
The expansion pack features twelve brand-new "levels" that are all connected to one another. New weapons and foes, including as the Zombie Grunt, Pit Drone, Shock Trooper, and Voltigore, as well as new boss creatures, are included in this update.
The ability to command AI-controlled teammates of different classes is another one of the new additions. Standard grunts and heavy gunners can be called upon to provide support fire; engineers can cut down doors; and medics can replenish lost health. There are parts of the game that can only be beaten with the assistance of your teammates.
