Space Quest III: The Pirates of Pestulon

Description

Roger Wilco's escape pod is shown floating through space after very narrowly avoiding the events that take place in Space Quest II: Vohaul's Revenge. Soon after, an interplanetary waste hauler comes by and picks it up as if it were just another piece of junk made of metal. Roger Wilco must find a way to flee the garbage heap in which he has found himself, a setting that is all too familiar for this former janitor turned hero. Once he is granted access to the rest of the galaxy, he will quickly discover that he must avoid a collections cyborg for overdue payments, deal with the corporate prison of software company Scummsoft, and digest the greasy food from the galaxy's finest hamburger joint. All of these challenges await him once he is granted access to the rest of the galaxy.

Graphical adventures are what Space Quest 3 is all about. Although the mouse can be used to walk around and access your inventory, the game mostly depends on a word parser for specific commands and the manipulation of items that are displayed on the screen. Other than the main action, there are also a variety of minigames, such as the straightforward arcade game Astro Chicken, which does not scroll, and a radar screen simulation of ship-to-ship space combat. Both of these can be played in addition to the main gameplay.
