Police Quest 2: The Vengeance
Description
Since the events of Police Quest, when Sonny Bonds rose through the ranks of the Lytton police force and became an integral component of the investigation that led to the capture of Jesse Bains, the infamous drug lord, not much time has gone. After the verdict was handed down, Sonny's application to the Homicide division was accepted, and he proposed to Marie. Marie had the accusations against her for engaging in prostitution dropped, and she began a new life away from the streets. Bains took advantage of a prison with a low level of security and an inexperienced correctional officer in order to flee, and life was going swimmingly until that point. Sonny is now in danger from a furious Bains, and he is forced to work with his new partner, Keith, who is a chain smoker. Sonny heads back out into the field to continue his pursuit of Bains, but the situation is about to become extremely intimate...
The graphics are more vibrant than they were in the first game thanks to Sierra's new SCI engine, but the gameplay is essentially the same. The player orders Sonny to move to a place in the scene (either by using the directional keys or the new mouse interface), and they use a parser interface to interact with the game world. There is a greater variety of game scenarios, some of which include a shooting range, an underwater search, and searching the interior of an escape vehicle. The driving portions have been removed, so the player can now kick back and relax while reading the conversation that takes place between Sonny and Keith as they go from one site to another. The way in which the game is played, on the other hand, is very different. This sequel is focused on forensics field work such as collecting evidence that links Bains into the happenings of the game, in contrast to the original game, which is based (for the most part) on the work of street police officers.
