A shooter with a side-scrolling perspective, Appleseed: Prometheus no Shintaku. Appleseed is a cyberpunk science fiction manga and anime created by Masamune Shirow. Shirow worked on Appleseed before he created Ghost in the Shell. This show is based on Appleseed.

Deunan Knute and Briareos Hecatonchires, both members of ESWAT, have been tasked with protecting the nascent utopian nation of Olympus, which is one of humanity's last remaining strongholds on a planet that has been ravaged by the catastrophic World War III.

The gameplay is a standard first-person shooter with side scrolling. Both the standard sidearm pistol and the unique limited-ammunition subweapon that each character carries are pistols, but the latter is different from the latter. They have a variety of grenades that they can launch at any time, and they can do so whenever they want. The player is required to progress through a number of different missions and receive a briefing before beginning each one.
