Edono Kiba

Description

Tokyo, 2050 AD. Terrorists are loose and roaming the streets of the city, and there is only one armoured police officer who can keep up with them fast enough to catch them.

Even though you are constantly moving forward in Edo no Kiba by either running, walking, or flying (depending on the level), you are still able to move around the screen like in most other belt-scrolling games. Your avatar uses his energy sword to perform an attack that slashes to the right, and he can also hold his sword in a defensive stance to deflect some of the enemy's bullets. After this, he can throw the sword like a boomerang by holding forward and releasing attack at the same time. He is also capable of jumping. On any level played on foot, the player's avatar is accompanied at all times by a bomb that can be detonated at any time to eliminate all of the enemies onscreen; this bomb is replenished whenever a life is lost. There are a variety of environments, including city streets, sewers, and even a flying battleship. The boss fight at the end of each level pits players against a powerful foe that can block multiple attacks.
