101: The Airborne Invasion of Normandy

Description

The player assumes command of a troop of 18 different units in 101: The Airborne Invasion of Normandy, a turn-based strategy game that is set during World War II and takes place in Normandy. A comprehensive planning phase comes first in the execution of every task. There, the player selects his men and gives them their equipment. Because this is something that can take a lot of time, the game gives you the option to have these choices made for you automatically. The final stage before beginning the mission is to arrange the units within the plane in the desired seating configurations. This is significant because of one of the game's distinguishing characteristics, which is that during the leaps, arbitrary events take place that have consequences for the units, such as the units being split, killed, or the entire plane being destroyed by enemy fire.

After all of the units that have survived have reached the ground, the player and the AI will move one unit at a time. Everyone starts with a certain number of action points, which are depleted whenever they perform any action (such as moving, resting, exchanging equipment, or firing). The objective of each mission is to free a specific location, in addition to completing a number of side objectives that must be discovered during the course of the operation. It is also essential to take into account that the game employs fog of war, so the player will not be informed of the whereabouts of his other forces. This indicates that he needs to locate himself using a map, which can only be done if one of the adjacent soldiers has a map in his kit. The task is over and the player is graded at the latest after three days have passed.
