Need for Speed: Road Challenge
Description
The latest installment in the Need for Speed series, Need for Speed: High Stakes, is an action-packed racing game that, like its predecessors, has a diverse collection of exotic sports cars and a wide variety of course layouts. The iconic "Hot Pursuit" game mode from the original installment in the series is still available to play. In this mode, players compete against one another while racing on tracks that also have regular traffic and police cars that pursue the racers. The traditional pursuit game has had two new additions added to it: the Getaway mode and the Time Trap mode. In the video game Getaway, the objective is either for the player to elude the authorities within a predetermined length of time or, if playing the role of the authorities, to catch a speeder before the clock runs out. In the video game Time Trap, the entire race has to be finished before the time limit is reached, or if you're playing as the police, all of the race's speeders have to be detained. When it comes to spike strips, road obstacles, and back-up, there are some subtle variances between the two platforms that are present in this mode of the game. This particular feature, for example, can only be found on the PlayStation version. In the multiplayer version of the game, there is also a mode called Pursuit, in which players can either compete against one another or team up.
It is the first game in the series to feature a Career mode, which consists of a sequence of challenges to complete. Defeating them will earn you trophies that can be used to unlock new content, as well as money that can be spent on new cars, repairs, and upgrades. In the PlayStation version of the game, the Career mode is divided into two distinct categories of competition: Tournament, which consists of mandatory races, and Special Event (optional races). The phrase "High Stakes" refers to the competitions in which competitors wager their vehicles. When the player has more than two automobiles to their name in the PC version of the game, these become a component of the Career mode. The PlayStation version allows for two players to simultaneously compete against one another by inserting their respective memory cards. The victor takes possession of their rival's vehicle straight away, while the loser's memory card is promptly wiped clean of all trace of it.
It is the first game in the series to include precise physics models, and in addition to the new game modes, it is also the first game in the series to offer new game modes. The car's performance and appearance are being adversely affected for the very first time as a result of the damage.
