Caesar II

Description

Caesar II is a role-playing video game that takes place in ancient Rome and gives the player the opportunity to assume the role of the emperor. You begin with one province, and your goal is to develop it into an effective city. To accomplish this, you will need to properly manage the water supply, ensure that the city is well policed, and provide adequate education, entertainment, baths, and temples (which also hold your money and can be robbed if you don't have enough protection). In addition, you will need to make sure that the city is properly protected from natural disasters.

You will, at some point in the future, and maybe more than once, be required to defend your province against invading tribes that do not particularly want you there. You also need to build roads to link all of the teeny-tiny towns in the province together and start some sort of activity, such as mine for stones or growing grapes, so that you can later use those products to stock the marketplaces in your city.

When you have fulfilled all of the essential conditions, you will be allowed to begin your journey anew in a different province that presents you with more challenges. If you perform well enough, you will have the opportunity to succeed Caesar.
