Carrier Aces

Description

World War II is the setting for the flight simulator Carrier Aces, which is played from the third-person perspective. In addition to this, the game is played entirely on a split screen, with either a second player or the computer acting as the adversary on the other half of the screen. The player assumes the role of an aircraft pilot serving the Japanese Empire or the United States of America. The player is able to engage in the following types of missions while based on an aircraft carrier: one-on-one dogfights, strafing runs on enemy ships, dive bombing on enemy ships, torpedo runs on enemy ships, and carrier landings. These components are present in every mission; however, during campaign missions, you will also have the option to select the aircraft you wish to bring into combat, each of which has its own set of statistics, and you will be able to monitor your advancement on a map of the surrounding region. On this particular map, when two opposing forces engage in combat with each other, the players get to choose which plane they want to bring into the fray, and that plane will engage in a direct one-on-one conflict with the adversary. During ship-to-ship combat, one player will control an aircraft while the other player will control the turret gun on their respective ship. However, during dogfights, both players will control an aircraft. Controlling an aircraft entails being able to tilt it to the left or right, climb, dive, increase or decrease speed, fire guns, drop bombs or torpedoes (if they are present), and perform a loop that is 180 degrees in circumference. Controls for the turret are more restricted, giving the player only the ability to aim left and right, fire the gun, and zoom in and out.
