The Legend of the Mystical Ninja

Description

Goemon (Kid Ying) and Ebisu-Maru (Dr. Yang) are having a good time at home when they overhear other villagers speaking of strange spirits that have been seen at the temple and that are taking control of the community. The two people, alarmed by the appearance of a fresh form of evil, decided to meet it head on at the temple. This is only the start of a brand new adventure that will take Goemon and his partner all over Japan, to places such as mountain villages, amusement parks, castle fortresses, and more!

Control of Goemon and his partner, Ebisu-Maru, is given to the player (or both, in 2 player mode). In order, they move from one village to the next in this action-adventure game, which features side-scrolling and jumping-and-running segments. In the villages seen from above, the adversaries have to be vanquished in order to obtain money and other items (which include a weapon-enhancing lucky cat and mystical scrolls). Jumping and attacking with the player's primary weapon are both options available to them. It is also possible to use throwing weapons, but doing so will cost money with each successful attempt. When the player attacks defenceless villagers, the player will suffer a financial loss. You can win money (or lose it) by playing one of the many minigames that are hidden throughout the game, most of which are located in houses. These games include mazes, whack-a-mole, a lottery, dice, a 3D labyrinth, and a game trivia quiz show. Visits can also be made to a variety of other establishments, including stores, restaurants, hotels, and judo training facilities.

An "action area" can be found at the conclusion of each village; this area completely alters the gameplay of the side-scrolling portion of the game. This location, which contains hazards, traps, foes, and a boss creature, can be traversed by either one or both of the players. Players will now have access to one of four unique special attacks for each character, in addition to the regular moves that can be used while in town (if bought beforehand at the judo training center). In order to use these, the collected scrolls must first be consumed. In addition, if there are two people playing the game, the characters can ride on each other like a piggyback to avoid becoming trapped by a scrolling screen.
