Choujikuu Yousai Macross - Scrambled Valkyrie

Description
The story of the pilots who flew the Valkyrie is not yet finished becoming a legend. Hikaru, Max, and Millia take to the skies in an effort to protect the earth from Zentraedi, robots, and even more robots, as well as gigantic space crab-bees. It is now time to put Valkyrie through its paces once more.
The player has the option of selecting Hikaru, Max, or Millia at the beginning of the game or whenever they continue playing. Each pilots a unique Valkyrie equipped with their choice of a predetermined arsenal of weapons. When a Valkyrie transforms into one of its three forms—Fighter, Gerwalk, or Battroid—it is able to change both the weapon it wields and the speed at which it moves. In general, the Valkyrie weapon fires in a straight line and at a high rate of speed, the Gerwalk weapon fires around or through obstacles, and the Battroid weapon deals more damage in exchange for a slower firing rate. Each weapon has the potential to be upgraded a maximum of twice by picking up power up items that are dropped by specific hostile ships; however, the Valkyrie will lose one level of power up whenever it is hit by an enemy projectile. If the entire life bar of a Valkyrie is depleted, then the entire stage must be replayed, provided that the player still possesses sufficient continues.
The player, in a nod to the classic arcade game Galaga, has the ability to take control of some of the enemy ships in order to increase their overall firepower. In the event that the player does not fire any weapons for a brief period of time, a field of electricity will cover the Valkyrie. When a player comes into contact with an enemy ship, that ship's targeting system will be disabled, and it will then become the player's ally. It will follow the player around and either shoot or ram other enemies that appear on the screen.
