Hit the Ice: The Video Hockey League
Description
The hockey video game Hit the Ice is characterised by its rapid pace and intense physical play. This arena is not the place for penalties, and it is not the place for anyone who is a wimp. It is more similar to Midway's Arch Rivals than any other realistic hockey simulation. Each team consists of only three players, there is a significant emphasis placed on checking, and it is possible to perform a "super shot" that is powerful enough to send the goaltender into the net along with the puck. Despite these differences, the objective of the game is still to get the puck into the goal of the opposing team.
There are exhibition and tournament modes available, and either one or two players can participate. It's even possible for two people to work together to take on the computer. Additionally, a four-player mode is included in the TurboGrafx-16 release, whereas the Gameboy version includes a "shot race" mode in which the player is tasked with scoring a certain number of goals in the shortest amount of time possible.
