Space Quest VI: Roger Wilco in the Spinal Frontier

Description

Roger Wilco, the heroic cosmic janitor who has already rescued the cosmos from a number of significant threats, is currently in a very humiliating situation. His commanders have no respect for his bravery despite it being displayed in the game before this one. Instead, he is being held accountable for a wide variety of transgressions against the laws of the galaxy, is being stripped of all the awards he earned in the last game, and as a sign of compassion, is being let to go back to his former job of cleaning closets... However, those bad occurrences are merely the beginning of far worse problems that Roger will get into in the future. Once more, the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance because of him!

The sixth installment of the Space Quest series is the first game in the franchise to be distributed only on a CD ROM. The game carries on the funny tone established by the previous entries in the series and leans heavily on making fun of well-known science fiction films. Graphics are rendered in SVGA, and voice-overs are provided for both chats and text descriptions. The interface is a little bit different from the icon-based system that Sierra uses in many of their other adventure games. Instead of using icons, the player selects verbs from a menu that appears at the bottom of the screen, just as in earlier LucasArts games. If the player's character, Roger, perishes throughout the course of the game, they will not be required to reload a previous save file in order to attempt again, making this version of Space Quest unique among its predecessors.
