Arkista's Ring
Description
Nowadays, when computer and console games are becoming more and more popular, it is necessary to look at the older pieces that show us how the game industry has evolved. One of these is Arkista's Ring, released in 1990 for the NES console. Let's take a look at what this title has to offer and whether it's worth playing.
Arkista's Ring is an action-adventure game set in a fantasy world. The player takes on the role of the young hero Arkista, who embarks on a dangerous journey to find a lost magic ring. The journey leads through several different environments such as forests, mountains, caves and more. The goal is to find the ring and defeat the evil wizard who stole it. The first thing that catches your eye about this game is its retro graphics. The brightly colored and flat backgrounds combined with simple figure-like characters aren't exactly handsome, but that's exactly what was common at the time. On the other hand, the level of detail is quite decent and even with a lot of movement nothing unexpected happens. The game's soundtrack is fairly simple but pleasant and consists of a few tunes that don't repeat during gameplay. As for the controls, we can say that they are quite simple and intuitive. The archer has a sword with which he fights enemies, and he also has the ability to jump. The game is based on the "get keys and unlock doors" principle and also on the "collect treasures" principle. However, collecting treasure is rather optional and has no effect on the game's progression. As for the difficulty of the game, it is not too high and most players should have no problem completing it. However, there are some passages that can be more challenging and require precise control. The game also offers the option to choose from several different difficulty levels. The main drawback of the game is its short length. If you have a bit of experience with similar games, you can finish Arkista's Ring within an hour. This is a shame, because the game has the potential to be longer and more varied.
Overall, Arkista's Ring is a hilarious action adventure game, but it does have its weaknesses. The graphics and sound are okay, but nothing special. The gameplay is enjoyable, but the game is too short. If you're looking for a retro game in honor of the NES console, you can definitely spend some time with Arkista's Ring, but otherwise it's an average title that doesn't particularly stand out.
