Contra

Description

The version of Contra that was released for the Famicom and NES was an extended port of the arcade game that was originally developed in-house. The levels have been greatly lengthened and reorganized, with stages 5 through 8 being derived from and enlarged from regions in the final stage of the arcade version. This is the primary change between the two versions of the game. In addition, the storyline has been changed so that it takes place in the year 1987 in the Amazon rather than in the year 2633 in the Galuga archipelago. The functions and frequencies of weapons are a little bit different from one another, and the famed Konami Code makes an appearance. The Famicom version of the game includes some cutscenes and additional graphical effects that were not present in the NES version of the game.
