The Great Waldo Search
Description
The Where's Waldo book series is very popular, and the objective of this game, which is based on those books, is for the player to locate Waldo, who is disguised in a variety of pictures, before the timer runs out. The player navigates the game using a magnifying glass and must click on various objects to trigger a variety of different outcomes. If you find a clock, it will add more time to the search; if you click on a 150 icon, it will add 150 points to the score; etc.
Each image is comprised of six successive screens that are adjacent to one another and share a common motif. The Carpet Flyers, The Underground Hunters, The Battling Monks, The Unfriendly Giants, and The Land of Waldos are the five themes that are included. Players have the option of playing on either the Normal or Expert difficulty settings, or they can choose to play the Land of Waldos stage instead. On the expert difficulty, there are no clock items that can be used to gain extra time for players, which is the only difference between the difficulties.
To move on to the next stage, the player needs to locate both Waldo and a scroll in each and every one of the levels. It is not possible to finish the stage without first finding Waldo and then the scroll. When a player finds Waldo's dog Woof in any of these levels (except for the Land of Waldos), they unlock a small bonus stage in which they control the dog on a flying carpet and collect points. This stage can only be accessed if the player has already found Woof.
