Hammer Lock Wrestling

Description

The style of wrestling known as Hammerlock Wrestling was developed by Jaleco and is modelled after that of Saturday Night Slam Masters. The player has the option of picking from one of 12 fictitious wrestlers and competing in one of four different game modes. In addition, there is a total of sixty different moves to select from, and each wrestler has their own special finisher.

In the Exhibition mode, up to four different players can compete against one another in either a singles match or a tag team match format. The Champion League Match is a competition that takes the form of a round robin, and it features six different wrestlers vying for the title of league champion. Tournament is the standard tournament format, and it features eight different wrestlers competing against one another. Top Ranking Match is the championship match, and it features eleven wrestlers that the player must compete against and win against in order to claim the title of champion.

At various points, the gameplay takes place across three distinct screens. The top and bottom portions of the screen are used for close-ups of action sequences such as power moves, illegal moves, and finishing manoeuvres, while the middle portion of the screen displays the action that is currently taking place in the ring.
