The gameplay of Hunter Hunted may seem simple at first glance, but it hides a surprising depth. The mix of platforming mechanics with intense combat and strategic elements delivers entertaining and often thrilling action. The constant switching between the two main characters offers a fresh perspective on different situations and challenges. The game also excels in the option of co-operative or competitive multiplayer, which is admirable for a 1996 title.

However, Hunter Hunted is not without its flaws. The controls can feel clunky at times, especially for the modern gamer used to nuances in movement and action. Some levels suffer from too many enemies or difficult to solve designs, which can lead to frustration.
